The Oxford Union is an extraordinary place. Nowhere else will you find a lineup of such prominent speakers or compelling debates. Since 1823, the Union has hosted leaders in every field, from politics and business to sport and the arts.

The Oxford Union has a rich history and a long tradition of bringing together world leaders, thinkers and influencers to debate issues and explore ideas across politics, religion, science, the arts and literature. Format. Our debates are held every Thursday evening during term time and follow the same format each week.

For hundreds of years, Oxford has been a home for innovation, and our speakers certainly reflect this tradition. The Union has hosted a huge number of world business leaders, including tech billionaires Jack Dorsey, Alexis Ohanian, Peter Thiel, Eric Schmidt and Brian Chesky.

2025年1月16日 · Today, we spotlight one of the earliest Term Cards preserved at the Oxford Union, dating back to Michaelmas 1949. While Term Cards from as early as 1891 are stored at the Oxfordshire History Centre, this particular example resides in the Frewin Court archive and offers a fascinating glimpse into a bygone era of Union history.
