2023年7月12日 · Since my goal is to have this NAS as a part of my 3-2-1 backup plan, I think RAID 5 is appropriate. The Samsung EVO SSDs are rated at a 2400 TBW. I think one fault tolerance should give me a fairly long lifespan.

2021年8月2日 · Knowing that it's best practice to keep your OS and Data separate, I would need a boot/OS drive. A low capacity SSD, aiming for roughly 128-256GB would be more than enough. I don't plan to using SSD caching drives at present, but its worth considering. Note: NVMe is not supported on the motherboard due to not having one.

They're connected via 1gigabit ethernet switch and currently get 70mbps - 100 mbps read/write. I kinda find the SSD would be more beneficial but not sure. Thanks!

2020年11月5日 · Playing via 1Gbit on SSD over NAS *is* quite a lot faster than local HDD. 6Gbps SATA interface is exactly that - interface, that HDD cannot fill up. On 7200rpm disk you're looking of average access time of some 14ms. On LAN, LAN will add upto 1ms of latency, and on top of that add <1ms latency of SSD - so that *is* significantly faster.
