Its sheltered, flat waters are perfect for beginners, while the consistent winds provide an exhilarating challenge for more experienced sailors.

Membership gives you access to be able to row with our rowing club, Stranraer Coastal Rowing Club and to sail* with our sailing club, Loch Ryan Sailing Club. As members some water sports activities are discounted, this discount is exclusive to our members.

Loch Ryan is a Scottish sea loch that acts as an important natural harbour for shipping, providing calm waters for ferries operating between Scotland and Northern Ireland. The town of Stranraer is the largest settlement on its shores, with boats operating both from the town and from the village of Cairnryan further north on the loch.

Loch Ryan was a narrow and long fjord-like lake. We spent two nights in Stranraer, and then left for Troon. Troon is technically in the Firth of Clyde, an area of Scotland that has numerous anchorages (many with mooring balls) and marinas.
