Then I read a lot about SSD's in general and about SSD's that would work best for me. My image files can get pretty big (pressure one possible external and need some speed), and I ofcourse have Thunderbolt 5 ports on my M4 Mini.

So an 8TB should be faster, but the largest increases are usually seen going from the smallest size (256GB/512GB) to the next (1TB/2TB) and then it starts to drop off as you get in the 4TB/8TB range.

2022年1月21日 · Recently I have bought a Samsung T7 Shield 4TB SSD drive. I would like to protect the data on this particular drive. I wouldn’t mind if it’s with a password or encryption. As long it has some protection which is reliable. Reliable as in for instance it doen't depend on software updates for it to open up.

I took my base M4 Mac mini, added a 4TB SanDisk PRO-G40 External Thunderbolt 3 SSD drive, and set it up as my Startup Disk with macOS on it, and now I boot up having a 4TB SSD M4 Mac Mini for less than $1,000.
